The winner of the 2008 Lucy Marx Award is Deborah Connelly. Ms. Connelly is a teacher
at Bloom Elementary in Jefferson County Public Schools. She has demonstrated her leadership
by serving as Technology Coordinator and her grade level team's leader. She is also a
member of the Communications Committee and the Instructional Leadership Team at Bloom.
She is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Library Media Education at Western
KY University.

The Jefferson County School Media Association (JCSMA) offers a $600 scholarship in memory of
former JCSMA member Lucy Marx. The Lucy Marx Scholarship helps those who pursue professional
school librarianship training. Scholarship applications must be submitted by Monday,
